Today I teach you how to conjugate French composed tenses with the auxiliary to be my friend.

Use the auxiliary to be être when you conjugate the French passé composé with all the reflexive verbs or verbes pronominaux and the following verbs: aller – entrer – passer – monter – descendre – tomber – arriver – sortir – venir – retourner – rester – partir – mourir – naître

go – enter – pass – ascend – descend – fall – arrive – exit – come – return – stay – leave – die – be born

Je suis allée au cinéma hier soir avec ma belle-mère que j’adore. Oui vraiment.

I went to the movies last night with my loving mother-in-law. Yes really.

Tu es entrée dans la pièce comme une furie, que se passe-t-il ma chérie ?

You came into the room like a fury, what’s going on honey?

Il est passé par un nombre incalculable de postes dans la banque avant de finalement devenir avocat en cabinet.

He went through countless banking positions before eventually becoming a private attorney.

Nous sommes tombés par hasard sur ce vieux manuscrit de Victor Hugo, encore tout empoussiéré car il se trouvait au fond du grenier.
